A French Short by Julien Mokrani and Samuel Bodin about everyone’s favorite Dark Knight. It is even darker and and more gruesome than usual and borrows heavily from movies like Sin City. Plus it features The Joker and Harley Quinn. I do loves me some Harley.  Again, just to say…this short is not for the faint of heart.

Remember my fabulous post about Animated Movies?  How could you forget?  It took me 2+ hours to write!  Well, Buzzfeed started a hit contest on their site, called the Infectious Contest.  Sound naughty?  Maybe.  It is actually a contest to create the most buzzworthy content before July 17th.  You should join too, but I thought maybe I could catch some support by posting this and having you guys click over to it.  Just poke back to the Uniblog after you get to the contest page.  That would be hella swell.

Please click here to Digg this article – Love you forever?

Ok, so the other day I was thinking about a certain animated magnum opus and upon asking my friend if they had similar feelings about it, I found out they had never even heard of said film (The spy movie like secrecy is because it tops this very list).  So I decided to look up some of my favorite undervalued animated movies and make a list so I could preach the word of these masterpieces.  Let me know if you disagree with any of my selections or if I missed anything.

So here is the list kiddies.  I hope if you have not seen some of these you will run right out (right now!) and rent them.  If you have children or value the art of animation then you have no excuse!

#7 The Iron Giant

Though being perhaps the “best” movie on this list, the reason it holds the #7 spot is because I think it fences being underrated.  The film only made a little over 23 million domestically, making it a financial disaster in the US.  The reason IGN analysts cite “was a mis-marketing campaign of epic proportions at the hands of Warner Bros, they simply didn’t realize what they had on their hands.”  With a very popular at the time Jennifer Aniston and also Harry Connick Jr., Vin Diesel, and Christopher McDonald, you would think it would have performed better.

Even so, it has received a 97% fresh rating at RottenTomatoes.  It is a fantastic movie and made director Brad Bird popular enough with animators to go onto Pixar and direct movies like The Incredibles and Ratatouille.

The movie takes place in a Cold War era 1957, when a Giant Robot crashes on Earth from outer space.  He is found by a young boy named Hogarth Hughes.  They go on to have an adventure which was equal parts light comedy, heart string tugging drama, and high octane action.

Check out the rest of the list after the cut.

untitled1

I draw, I paint, I sculp. I create, I modify, I destroy. But something is born in all the cases.

These are the words of amazingly talented and twisted artist Mari Kasurienen.  You may or may not have seen her off-beat My Little Pony adaptations, if you haven’t though I highly suggest you check them out.  I would have killed for these when I was a kid.  Who am I kidding?  I would kill for them now.
