I don’t think that is the way it works Elisabeth.

A Bear Film is a third year CalArts effort that looks like an animated version of a Lou Romano colorscript. It’s created—entirely in Photoshop believe it or not—by Kris Anka. The bear animation is cute and pleasing; the glaring misogyny isn’t (women in the film are depicted only as promiscuous girls or raging housewives). The latter might be attributed to the filmmaker’s youthful immaturity and shouldn’t outweigh the film’s positive points.

I completely agree with Cartoon Brew’s assessment of this film.  Love the animation and the soundtrack, wasn’t as keen on  the sexist undertones.  Not that I was super offended, but hasn’t the overbearing wife been done to death in cartoons?  I understand that it was supposed to be saying that everything in this guys life is awful other than the bear, but I think there were better ways to go about that with his wife, it was a tad over the top with the swearing and such.  Swearing NSFW

Glenn Thrush Reports:

House Minority Leader John Boehner was fired up and ready to go at the Tea Party rally today.

He even held up his pocket copy of the Constitution, pledging to “stand here with our Founding Fathers, who wrote in the pre-amble: ‘We hold these truths to be self evident …”

Oops.

That would be the pre-amble to the Declaration of Independence that he’s reading.

Uh yeah.  What I would like to know is if his fellow Tea Party buddies (Michelle Bachmann in particular) even know if he is committing a flub.  Is it a perfectly understandable mix up?  Shouldn’t somebody that high up know the difference?  I know I noticed and I am a lowly pop culture blogger.

Evony is an online civilization building game with a dubious history in advertisements.  Here are their ads in chronological order for your consideration.

I think this one is perfectly reasonable.  It is after all a medieval game.  Apparently though this one didn’t work so well for the game’s site so…

They moved onto this one, which is comedic as they stole it from another site.  It features a lady this time, being subservient to a big strong man.  Woof.  Not too bad though, but you haven’t seen anything yet.

Double your pleasure, double your fun…building a civilization?  Huh.

Well they moved onto another set of twins I guess.  By the way, THERE IS NO QUEEN TO SAVE IN THIS GAME.

How do I get my queen?
There is no queen in this game, the ad you saw is for marketing purposes and seems to be highly effective by the number of times this question has come up.

And if that LAST ad was effective than boy howdy this one will knock em dead.  Knock em dead with boobies.

Ok, so how could this campaign get anymore obvious?  Do you really want to know?  Hells yes you do.  Check it out after the cut, keep in mind that it is only sort of safe for work.

On 9.12.2009, we went to Washington DC to document the Tea Party protests against, well, a lot of things, including health insurance reform, the IRS, abortion, global warming, and our “socialist/communist/fascist/Nazi/Muslim ” president, Barack Obama. Some of them called for a return to McCarthyism, while others called for Glenn Beck to run for office–indeed, it seemed the only thing that everyone agreed on was Fox News.

Definitely watch the whole thing.  It is equal parts scary and hilarious.  Plus I am kind of crushing on the geeky interviewer.
